St George's CE Primary School

  1. Curriculum
  2. Science

At St George's we teach an understanding of natural phenomena through the disciplines of chemistry, physics and biology. Our Science lessons aim to stimulate a child’s curiosity in finding out why things happen in the way they do. We teach methods of enquiry and investigation to stimulate creative thought. Children learn to ask scientific questions and begin to appreciate the way in which Science will affect the future on a personal, national, and global level.

During Recycle Week, our ECO councilors began to monitor the paper recycling in each classroom by making sure that all paper is put into the correct boxes and not straight into the general waste bins.

Children throughout the school have also been busy helping with the recycling at home!

Our ECO councilors also began monitoring the use of electricity in our classrooms. They are taking their roles very seriously and making sure our lights are turned off when no one is in the classroom and our interactive whiteboards are switched off when not it use.

Take a look back at some of the super science we did last year...

Fantastic Finish!

Parents are often invited in to school for open afternoons.

Look at these recycled robots made during one afternoon.

We combined Recycle Week and Space Week to launch a whole school competition.

Children were challenged with creating their very own satellites using recycling materials.

Take a look at some of their amazing results!

We are SO lucky to have places like Conkers on our doorstep. Many of our families hold annual passes and as a school we use their excellent educational sessions to enrich our science curriculum during school trips.

Some of our recommended Science Apps include:
