Remote education information for parents
In the event of an emergency e.g. adverse weather conditions, the school may be required to partially or fully close. We want to ensure you and your child understand what to expect from remote education if your child needs to learn from home. Where your child is unable to attend school, they will be provided with remote education for the period they are off.
Here are some ways to keep children safe while learning remotely:
- Talk about online safety: Have regular conversations with your child about online safety, including the importance of keeping passwords and login credentials safe.
- Set parental controls: Set age-appropriate parental controls on digital devices.
- Supervise children: Provide age-appropriate supervision for children while they are using the internet.
- Keep webcams covered: Keep webcams covered when they are not in use.
- Teach children to keep personal information private: Help your child learn to keep their personal information private.
- Encourage children to speak up: Encourage children to speak to you if they see something worrying online.
- Stay near children: Stay near your children when they are learning remotely.Consider home filtering: Consider setting up home filtering in a child-friendly way.
