History
At St George's, our curriculum is designed to celebrate the rich local history of Swadlincote. Children should know about their heritage and the unique place South Derbyshire has in British history. Throughout key stage 1 and 2, students will learn about some interesting and influential figures, well known time periods and the drastic change the local area has undergone over the last 200 years.
Our curriculum
Our carefully planned curriculum is designed to help children build their mental timeline. Starting with the most recent history, children move backwards through time the further up the school they go. Within each year, there are cross over topics to help children build their mental schemas with retrieval opportunities.
